Myxocyprinus asiaticus — Asian High-Fin Carp
The Chinese High-Fin Banded Shark is a spectacular cyprinid native to the Yangtze River, celebrated for the dramatic, sail-like dorsal fin that towers over juveniles, though this fin becomes proportionally smaller as the fish matures into a large, streamlined adult. Young specimens display bold brown and black banding that fades to a uniform grey-brown with age. A cold-water species that can live for decades and ultimately requires a very large aquarium or pond.
