Channa sp. Assam — Assam Snakehead

The Assam Snakehead is a medium-sized Channa species originating from the highland streams of northeastern India's Assam region, displaying attractive patterning of warm browns and olive tones with intricate lateral markings. Like all snakeheads it is a labyrinth fish capable of breathing atmospheric air, and it appreciates a well-covered tank to prevent escape. It is territorial toward conspecifics but manageable in a species-only or large community setup.
