Cherax quadricarinatus — Australian Red Claw Crayfish
The Australian Red Claw Crayfish is a large, impressive freshwater crayfish with a blue-green body and distinctive red patches on the claws of adult males. It is an active omnivore that forages along the bottom, consuming plant matter, invertebrates, and sinking foods. Native to northern Australia and New Guinea, it is one of the more manageable large crayfish species but may prey on small tank mates and uproot plants.
