Macropodus spechti — Blue Pearl Paradise Fish

Macropodus spechti, the Black Paradise Fish, is a hardy labyrinth fish from slow-moving, heavily vegetated waters of southern China and Vietnam, displaying deep blue-black flanks with brilliant turquoise iridescence. Males are strikingly colored and will flare their fins in elaborate displays, though they can be aggressive toward other males. It is cold-tolerant and adaptable, making it one of the more forgiving species for intermediate fishkeepers.
