Channa asiatica — Fire Mountain Snakehead
Channa asiatica, the Chinese Snakehead, is a widely distributed Asian snakehead found from southern China through Vietnam, featuring an attractive olive-brown body with irregular dark blotches and a vivid orange-red edge on the caudal fin. As a labyrinth fish it can breathe air directly and is quite resilient to suboptimal water conditions. It is territorial and predatory but manageable in a species setup with ample hiding places and a secure lid.
