Trachemys scripta elegans — Red-eared Slider
The Red-eared Slider is one of the world's most widely kept freshwater turtles, native to the Mississippi Valley region of North America, identifiable by the distinctive red stripe behind each eye on an olive-green shell. It is a hardy, long-lived omnivore that grows considerably larger than most new keepers expect, ultimately requiring a very large aquarium or outdoor pond. Due to its invasive potential, it is banned or restricted in many countries including Taiwan.
