Macropodus opercularis — Red Paradise Fish

The Paradise Fish is one of the oldest ornamental fish kept in aquariums, native to East Asia including Taiwan, with vivid red-orange and blue vertical banding and flowing fins. It is a hardy labyrinth fish that can tolerate a wide range of water conditions, including cooler temperatures and low oxygen. Males are aggressive toward each other and can intimidate smaller tankmates.
