Melanotaenia australis — Red-tail Rainbow

Melanotaenia australis, the Western Rainbowfish or Red-tail Rainbow, is a hardy and colorful species from Western Australia, with males displaying a vivid reddish-orange tail and dorsal fins over a silver-blue body. It is one of the more robust rainbowfish species, tolerating a wide range of water conditions including harder, alkaline water. Active and peaceful, it is excellent for community aquariums.
