Apistogramma atahualpa — Sunset Dwarf Cichlid
Apistogramma atahualpa, the Sunset Dwarf Cichlid, is a gorgeous species from Peru's Ucayali and Pachitea River systems, named for its warm sunset-like coloration of orange, yellow, and red. Males are notably colorful with flame-patterned fins, while females are more subdued in yellow. They inhabit shallow, slow-moving blackwater streams and thrive in well-planted tanks with soft, acidic water.
