Platydoras armatulus — Talking Catfish
Talking Catfish (Platydoras armatulus) are armored catfish from the Amazon basin, easily identified by their dark brown body with a distinctive white lateral stripe and rows of sharp scutes along the flanks. They earn their common name from the croaking or grunting sounds they produce using their pectoral spines. Nocturnal by nature, they spend the day hiding in caves or driftwood and become active hunters at night.
